Coming up: Ramadan, Quran Journaling and more Baking

Assalamu Alaikum!
Without a doubt, Ramadan is our favourite time of the year! We love the peaceful atmosphere and the calmness that descends during this blessed month. It is a time of worship, reflection and togetherness. This year, due to this global pandemic, things will undoubtedly be different. Most countries around the world are currently in lockdown, and here in Qatar we are self-isolating.
The masjids are closed and we expect them to remain that way for the foreseeable future. This unfortunately means that there will be no congregational prayers and we are really going to miss them. Insha'Allah, we want to focus more on the good and are aware that such measures have been put in place for our safety, alhamdulillah.

Ramadan Crafts
It has almost become a tradition in our household to have lots of Ramadan-related crafts completed before and during this blessed month. Last year, however, we did two big crafts that we knew would change things. In an effort to be more sustainable and environmentally friendly, we made a couple of reusable crafts, pictured and linked below.

Both of these crafts take a while to make, so if you have the supplies you might want to get started soon! We won't be doing many Ramadan crafts this year, but we will try to do at least one, insha'Allah.

Quran Journaling
Almost two years ago, Hanifah made us each a Quran and Dua'a journal. We tend to do more journaling in them during Ramadan so, insha'Allah, we will be sharing some photos of our Quran journaling. We have recently been inspired by our mum's style of Quran journaling and are excited to show you some of her work too!

Baking
Every Ramadan we have shared a recipe that includes dates, and this year we mean to do the same, insha'Allah. We will also try our best to get two recipes up as we have usually been able to do during this blessed month, masha'Allah. If you want to try out some of our previous Ramadan recipes, we have linked a few below.

Well, that's all for this week's post. We hope you are all safe and looking forward to Ramadan which is only about a week away, subhan'Allah!

Take care and Wassalam,

Coming up: Collage Spreads, Smoothie Recipe, Original Story!

Assalamu Alaikum everyone!
Todays post is a look at what we have planned for the month of February. We have some fun ideas and projects to share so we hope you are looking forward to them.

Collage Spreads
This is a craft that we have wanted to share for a while now but have not found the time. Insha'Allah we will share this fun craft with you all sometime this month.

Fruit Smoothie Recipe
Insha'Allah, Maryam will be sharing another smoothie recipe.

Crumbledown School Chapter Release Days
If you didn't know, Zainab has shared the first chapter of her original story Crumbledown School: The Betrayal last week. Insha'Allah, the remaining chapters will be coming out every Monday and Wednesday. Hope you all enjoy them!

Gardening
Insha'Allah Maryam will finally update you all on her balcony garden that, unfortunately, did not go according to plan.

Well, that's all for now. Make sure to check back on Mondays and Wednesdays, insha'Allah, for the next chapters. See you all next Friday!

Coming up... Original Story!

Assalamu Alaikum everyone!
Today we have some exciting news to share!
For as long as we can remember we have all loved writing stories, poems, drawing comics, painting, etc. As kids we all went through a phase of wanting to be a writer/illustrator. When making this blog we knew we would want to share some of our work and have done so, except we've never shown any of our writings. This is mainly because, when looking back at our work from several years ago, we realised how much we liked our ideas and wanted to rewrite/improve the storyline to make it more interesting.
We're happy to share with you an original story by Zainab which she first wrote and illustrated when she was 12 years old! It's called Crumbledown School and she wants it to be a series insha'Allah.
Here is the cover and back!
The story follows a group of friends through their everyday lives at school.
Insha'Allah the first chapter will be coming out next Friday and we hope to keep them coming regularly and close to each other.
We are all very excited - Zainab most of all, of course! We hope that you like it, insha'Allah and tell us what you think about it!
Well that is all for this post. Until next Friday, insha'Allah.
Love and wasalaam,

Coming Up: Ramadan Crafts, Bakes and Daily Hadith Series

Assalamu Alaikum everyone!
Ramadan is only a few days away. As it is our favourite time of the year we always want to make a special effort for it. Last year we gave you a sneak peak of what we had planned for the month, and this year we wanted to do the same. Insha'Allah, we hope you are as motivated and excited as we are!

Reversible Ramadan/Eid Banner
We have wanted to do this craft for a while now. We always make a banner for Ramadan but since it is made out of card or paper, it doesn't last long - at least not when Ramadan rolls around again the following year. This time we wanted to make a banner out of felt. We also wanted to make it reversible so that we could use it as an Eid banner too. We are excited to share this craft with you soon, insha'Allah!

Ginger & Date Muffins
We hope to share a couple of recipes this Ramadan, one of them being this tasty muffin recipe. It includes dates making it quite a festive treat and is pretty easy to whip up. We hope you try it out and give us your opinion. You can click here to see our Liqeemat recipe and here to see Hanifah's Date Ma'moul recipe.

Daily Hadith Series
If you remember, last year we did a Ramadan Photo Challenge where we posted a photo a day for the whole month. Unfortunately, this year we are too busy to do it, but we have decided to schedule a Daily Hadith Series instead. Insha'Allah, a hadith will go up every morning during Ramadan.

Ramadan Reward Calendar Fillers
Insha'Allah, we will be doing weekly posts on Sumayyah's Reward Calendar fillers. It is partly for her to be able to look back and remember what she receives. However, it is also meant to serve as inspiration as to what small gifts to put in the pockets.

Well, that's all for this post. We hope you liked it and that you are looking forward to seeing the projects and things we have coming up. See you soon, insha'Allah.

Wassalam,

Coming up: Baking, Crocheting and more

Assalamu Alaikum!
This post is a sneak peek of some of the up coming posts we hope to be sharing with you all soon. We have been working on some projects and will hopefully have them completed within the next month, insha'Allah.

Baking
The recipe we have planned for February is our Spicy Apple Crumble recipe which is a family favourite. Sometimes when we were young we would come home from school and our mum would have it waiting for us as a surprise treat, masha'Allah. One of the best things to come home to after a tiring day!

Crocheting
Maryam has a crochet craft planned which we hope to post next week, insha'Allah. We will say no more about it so as not to spoil the surprise!

Art Journaling
We have all been pretty busy with studies and really hope that we can find the time to unwind and do something creative. Insha'Allah, we will do some artwork and share photos of what we come up with.

Childhood Memories
Lastly, we will be sharing more photos from our childhood home - maybe this time our old bedroom? Our bedroom walls had a beach scene painted by our mum so it was quite unique, masha'Allah.

Hope you are looking forward to seeing these projects! See you next weekend.

Coming Up: Ramadan Crafts and Photo Challenge

Assalamu Alaikum!

With Ramadan just around the corner we thought it was about time to start doing some more festive crafts and bakes. We wanted to make a greater effort for Ramadan and so we are preparing several things to keep you, as well as ourselves, productive and entertained during this special month. In this post we wanted to give you a brief taste of what is to come, insha'Allah!

The Ramadan Photo Challenge
We are excited to announce that we will be doing a challenge where we take a photo a day throughout the month of Ramadan. Insha'Allah, this way we will be able to share a little snippet of our day with you. The photos will probably be rather random but you can expect some of our Iftar table, our cats and objects around our home. We think this will be a fun challenge and hope that you too decide to participate in it. You don't need to have a blog to do so; you could post your photos on Instagram or even just keep them for yourselves as memories.

Hanifah's Date Ma'moul Recipe
Hanifah will, insha'Allah, be sharing her recipe for date ma'moul. It is not exactly like a traditional ma'moul(which is a date-filled Arabic biscuit BTW) but it is a recipe she came up with and our family really enjoys. We hope you will give it a try this Ramadan and that you enjoy it too.

Simple Ramadan Crafts
We have been busy lately but insha'Allah we will be working on a few easy Ramadan crafts that we hope you will have fun making. Sometimes it's the simple projects that are the most fun. Insha'Allah these ones will be relatively easy and younger kids are sure to enjoy them.

Well, that's all for this post. We hope you liked it and that it has made you more excited for Ramadan!

Love and Wassalam,

Coming Up: Handmade Journals and a Mushroom House

Assalamu Alaikum!
Today's post is a sneak peek of some of the things that we have been working on. We hope to share them with you soon insha'Allah!

Sumayyah's Mushroom House
Sumayyah (with our mother's help) is making this cute mushroom house out of a glass jar and clay. Insha'Allah, when it is done, we will put a light inside it and keep it as decoration!
 Zainab's Coraline Journal
Zainab has made a journal inspired by Coraline (both book and movie). She will be doing a flip-through of this journal soon, insha'Allah.
Maryam's Junk Journal
Maryam has made herself a junk journal and before she begins writing in it she will be sharing a flip-through of it with you all, insha'Allah.
Hanifah's Journal Covers
Hanifah has been using cereal boxes and patterned card to make these journal covers. Insha'Allah she will show you the finished products once the journals are completed.
We have been quite busy with studies and exams recently, however, we still try to craft and be creative when we have the time. Hopefully this post will inspire you to do the same.

Love and wassalam,
