Assalamu Alaikum everyone!
Today we are doing our final post on our summer holiday. It has taken a while to sort out, select and edit the photos but, alhamdulillah, we are done! You can click the links if you would like to see our first and second posts. This post is about the places we visited while in Staffordshire and Derbyshire. If you ever happen to be in that part of the country and are looking for some lovely day-trips to go on, we would highly recommend all of these places!
Snake Pass
We mentioned in a previous post that we visited Haddon Hall during our stay. On the way we took Snake Pass road because we heard the scenery was spectacular. It most definitely was, masha'Allah! We stopped off along the way and took a walk through Lady Clough Woods.
The woods were very beautiful and peaceful, masha'Allah.
We loved being surrounded by the tall trees and had fun exploring.
Most of the time there was no one else around so we could relax, play and honestly - just muck about in nature!
Blue John Cavern
Another place we visited was the Blue John Cavern in Castleton, Derbyshire. The cavern is named after the semi-precious mineral Blue John which is derived from the French bleu-jaune, meaning 'blue-yellow'.
The mineral is still mined today and made locally into jewellery. We had learnt a bit about it's mining and jewellery-making process on an episode of a program called How It's Made. It was nice to get to visit the place in real life and learn more about it.
It was quite dark in the cavern at times and some parts were very steep - definitely not a trip for small kids or elderly people.
Once we got out of the cavern the view at the top was absolutely beautiful, masha'Allah.
RSPB Coombes Valley Nature Reserve
RSPB is the abbreviation of the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds which is the largest nature conservation charity in the UK.
Coombes Valley was a lovely oak woodland and we thoroughly enjoyed exploring it.
There were plenty of activities for the whole family and the play area was especially fun.
The Fairy Garden was adorable! There were tiny houses carved out of wood in various shapes and sizes.

By the way, we are sorry for the poor quality of some of these photographs, but the sun was setting at the time.
