Book Recomendations by a 10-Year-Old

Assalamu Alaikum everyone!
It's Sumayyah and today I'll be doing a book recommendations post on some of the books I really like.

1. The School for Cats
by: Esther Averill
This is a book in a series about a black cat named Jenny Linsky who wears a red scarf made by Captain Tinker, her owner. She is sent to stay at a school for cats while her master is away at sea. In this book she has a little adventure where she gets scared, lost and becomes braver.
It's a charming story and I think most kids would like it. I recommend it as a bedtime story for parents to read to their children.

2. Cakes in Space
by: Philip Reeve and Sarah McIntyre
This book is about a girl who goes to live on a new planet with her family and lots of other people. They have to travel in a spaceship and sleep in pods until they reach the planet. But she wakes up and is hungry. So she goes to the kitchen to eat some cake. But suddenly something goes wrong and the machine makes human-eating cakes that try to eat her! With help from some new friends she tries to defeat them before everyone wakes up. The illustrations are very nice and it is an easy read.

3. Oliver and the Seawigs
by: Philip Reeve and Sarah McIntyre
This book is by the same authors as the last one and it is about a boy named Oliver whose parents are explorers that have explored every part of the world. They return to their old home to live a normal life(which their son is happy about) but they find a new place to explore and go off(this time without Oliver, who doesn't want to explore anymore). But when his parents don't come back he sets out to find them. He meets a near-sighted mermaid, a grumpy albatross and a moving, talking island that help him along the way. I find the illustrations very sweet.

4. Max the Detective Cat (The Disappearing Diva)
by: Sarah Todd Taylor
This books is about a cat called Max who lives with a rich Countess and spends his life sitting on a comfy pillow in one room. He is never allowed to go outside but one day he gets out and gets lost. He tries his best to get home to the Countess but along the way he finds a black cat and a theatre. When he ventures into the theatre he meets lots of people and stays with them for a while. Mysterious things start to happen and Max decides to solve the mystery. It's a very nice book with beautiful illustrations, masha'Allah. This is the first book about Max the Detective Cat.

5. The Unintentional Adventures of the Bland Sister (The Jolly Regina)
by: Kara LaReau
Jaundice and Kale are twins who have no interest in having adventures. They do bland things - like darning socks and eating cheese sandwiches - in their bland house. Jaundice wears a dress with a lot of pockets which she has sewn on. She pops random things into them all the time. Kale likes reading from an illustrated dictionary and her most favourite thing to do in the whole wide world is cleaning their bathroom - with a toothbrush! They also take turns reading the dictionary to each other as a bedtime story! They live alone because their parents went off on an adventure a long time ago and they hardly remember them.
When the Bland Sisters get kidnapped by pirates they try desperately to get back to their safe, comfy and bland home. It's a very nice book that will make you chuckle and laugh at their blandness! The Jolly Regina is the first book about the Bland Sisters. The illustrations are beautiful and the Bland Sisters are so cute!

Well, that's it for today. Insha'Allah I will do another book recommendations post sometime.

Wassalam,

Sumayyah
