Our 2018 Summer Holiday (part 2)

Assalamu Alaikum everyone!
A while ago we did a post on our 2018 summer holiday and said that we would follow up with a second post. We have only just got round to doing so now, but better late than never, right? 😉

The Cottage
During the summer we spent a week in a holiday cottage, masha'Allah, and had fun touring the beautiful countryside of Staffordshire and Derbyshire. Since we have grown up living in the desert we feel we can never get enough of the beauty and greenery of the countryside!
Here are some photos of the cottage.
Upon entering the cottage there was a staircase that led to the upstairs bedrooms.
The living room.
The kitchen was nice and cosy, masha'Allah.
Outside the cottage and the garden.
There was a small stream nearby and the cottage was surrounded by lovely fields and trees.
The cottage owners also had a couple of miniature horses named Breeze and Storm that lived in a field a short walk away. We visited them often and enjoyed petting and feeding them.
They knew their names and had different personalities. Breeze was the greedy, bold one and Storm was the sweet, shy one.
 Breeze.
Storm.
Haddon Hall
We took several day-trips during our stay and one of the places we visited was Haddon Hall. It was very grand and the surrounding gardens were very beautiful, masha'Allah.
It dates from the 12 Century to the early 17 Century and is described as "the most perfect house to survive from the Middle Ages".
Inside the rooms were large and grand, however, some were a bit dark.
The servants' quarters.
It was interesting to see the way people lived during medieval times and learning about their day-to-day lives.
The gardens were bright and peaceful, masha'Allah.
Looking around there were no signs of the modern world at all.
It was almost like going back in time!
So, we are going to end the post here but, insha'Allah, we will be doing a third and final post soon. It will be on the places we visited in Staffordshire on the day trips we took. Until then!

Wassalam,
