Assalamu Alaikum everyone!
It's Zainab here and at the beginning of this year I became interested in crocheting. I started off following a couple of tutorials online and then began making up my own patterns for dolls' dresses and coats. The first dress I ever made was for one of Sumayyah's dolls.
I made up the pattern myself and just experimented with different crochet stitches. The ruffles were sort of a mistake but I liked them and learnt how to make them look neater and nicer for the next dress.
This dress is my favourite so far. I made the stitches looser and so the dress came out softer. It can't be removed, however, as it was then sewn onto the doll.
I also made some sleeves and boots using a similar pattern. The boots are removable.
For the coats, I copied this tutorial for dolls' jackets and then I just made them longer. They don't take long to make and are definitely easier to make than the dresses. I have made three so far and, insha'Allah, I want to make a wintry-blue one next.
Insha'Allah, I will do another part to this post and show you some other dolls' accessories I've been working on. Well, that is all for now.

I wish I could do that - I won't have time to. With blog posts, a sister who can't stop taking my yarn and crochet hook... and a whole lot of things I can't think of currently, well - no time.
ReplyDeleteI want to make a doll but I don't have thick (ISH) material and felt is no good with Ramlah. Maybe if I find plush fabric I'll make a stuffed animal. I still love stuffed animals, Ramlah isn't really thrilled about them but loves two of my collection.
This IS pretty long, I know. One question I wanted to ask you - Zainab, do you bake?

ReplyDeleteNo, I don't bake! Hanifah and Maryam are more into baking. Sumayyah likes to sew small felt bears - maybe she'll do a tutorial on that soon.
I want to make a wintry-blue coat next, insha'Allah, because blue is my favourite colour. What's yours?

Wa alaikum salaam, I kind of guessed it but just wanted to make sure, lol! Oh, I want to make a 3D felt house soon. Inshaa Allaah. I like the 'wintry blue' theme. It makes me think of a place I've never even seen with snow and a line of bare trees.
DeleteMy favourite color is very hard to guess. Even for me, I thought I liked pink, but pink is a second! It's actually jade. Oh, you gave me an idea. I'll ask my friend which is my favourite color... I don't think I told her!

DeleteI like black too, but it isn't my favourite color. Black is fascinating.
I think Ramlah's favourite color is red, or orange! I don't think it is pink. She likes any color.
