Week 2
Assalamu Alaikum!
Can you believe we are already halfway through Ramadan?!
Today we wanted to record Sumayyah's Treat Box gifts for this week. Masha'Allah, she has been looking forward to receiving a treat everyday after Iftar.
Here is what she got this week:
Day 8
Day 9
A magnetic hook.
Day 10
Day 11
A tiny metal box.
Day 12
A mini notebook.
Day 13
A handmade zine.
Day 14
So it seems as if this week all her treats were shop-bought, except for the zine! If you haven't seen last week's treats you can click here.
Well, that's it for this post; be sure to look out for next week's Treat Box fillers, insha'Allah.

Simple Ramadan Banner
Assalamu Alaikum everyone!
Sumayyah made this large banner with our mother some days ago. She was inspired by the artwork from the Tom Gates book series. Why not create a similar banner inspired by one of your favourite artists? You can get a parent or an older sibling to help you.
First our mother wrote out the word Ramadan and Sumayyah traced over it with a black pen.
Then they painted the word in purple and added more patterns and designs. They used felt-tips to colour in the rest of the artwork.
Here is how the banner looks hanging in our living room.
Some close up photos.
That's all for this post.
We hope you liked it! See you on Friday, insha'Allah.

Hanifah's Date Ma'moul Recipe
Assalamu Alaikum everyone!
As promised here is the recipe for my date ma'moul! I know that it is not a 'proper' ma'moul recipe but our family really likes it. Hopefully you will give it a try and let us know what you think.
Ingredients:-
20 medjool dates
1 tsp rosewater(optional)
330g butter
150g sugar
525g flour
1 egg(whisked)
First mash the dates. You can use a fork or a food processer. Add the rosewater and mix well.
Next you will need to beat the butter with a wooden spoon until it is soft.
Then add the sugar and cream them together.
Sift in half of the flour and combine. Then add the egg and remaining flour and combine to form a dough.
Roll the dough into even-sized balls. This recipe should form around 20. Make a hole in each ball and add the date filling.
Then roll it into a ball again and press into a ma'moul mould. If you don't have any don't worry, you don't need them.
Place on a baking tray and bake on a high shelf for 30 minutes until the bottoms are golden brown. Cool on a wire rack.
And you're done!
This is an easy recipe and it is made with a few simple ingredients.
I hope you liked the post and we'll see you again next Friday.
Wassalam,
Hanifah

Week 1
Assalamu Alaikum!
If you remember, not long ago we made this Ramadan Treat Box for Sumayyah. She has been receiving a treat or small gift from it everyday after Iftar. We wanted to record the treats she receives and to share them to give others ideas of what to put in such a box.
So here's what she got for the first week of Ramadan:
Day 1
Day 2
Day 3
A handmade journal.
Day 4
A mirror.
Day 5
Day 6
A handmade bookmark.
Day 7
As you can see it is a nice mixture of things; some handmade and others shop-bought. We want to encourage Sumayyah to keep her fasts but she still gets a gift even if she is unable to. Insha'Allah, our idea is to reward the effort rather than the achievement.
We hope you liked this post and we will see you tomorrow, insha'Allah.
